Held on Friday 8 May 2015 at The Point, looking across Melbourne’s Albert Park Lake, the cocktail dinner was a night for the merchant industry to come together and be entertained.

The Timber Merchants Association (TMA) ensured members were treated to a night of entertainment this year, and the message was clear: this night would not be about seminars or industry presentations, but rather, a night for members to enjoy themselves and relax.

President of the TMA Richard Hill greeted guests, while Eric Siegers, Executive Officer of the TMA, said the event celebrated the industry’s ability to withstand challenges, even in the most turbulent of times.

The event attracted a wide array of guests from all areas of the timber merchant industry, including guests from industry bodies such as the Victorian Association of Forest Industries and WoodSolutions.

Comedian Andrew Startin, previously seen on The Footy Show, Live and Kicking, and The Panel, thrilled guests with his series of vibrant impersonations.

Magic Mentalist Nicholas Chance wowed guests with his incredible feats of thought projection and precognition; many left wondering how on earth he did it!

The dinner also acknowledged the colleagues, suppliers, and broader industry in a relaxed environment.

The night included a raffle and auction, with all proceeds going to Heart Kids, a health charity which aims to improve the lives and futures of those affected by Childhood Heart Disease through support, information, and advocacy, driving research initiatives.

The key message the TMA wanted guests to take away with them this year was for the industry to come together and reaffirm that collaboration is the cornerstone to building a strong and healthy industry.
